Terms of Service

1. The product

Star Digest is a digital-only subscription service. There are no physical goods, shipments, or hardware. We generate personalized email digests (and related web previews) based on public GitHub Stars associated with your account after you authorize GitHub OAuth (scopes typically include read:user and user:email).

Current paid plans (USD, billed monthly via Waffo):

• Personal — $5 / month — one GitHub account, weekly private digest.
• Team — $15 / month — up to five seats, shared filters and archive (as offered on the site).

Free previews (for example Issue #0 or a waitlist email) may be offered without charge and do not create an ongoing paid subscription unless you complete checkout.

2. Accounts and eligibility

• You must be able to form a binding contract and provide accurate contact information.
• You are responsible for activity under your GitHub-linked account and for keeping access credentials secure.
• You must comply with GitHub’s terms and applicable law when using the Service.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by Waffo (not Stripe). Prices are listed in USD on https://stardigest.dev. By completing checkout you authorize recurring charges for the selected plan until you cancel. Taxes may apply where required.

Payment method details are collected and processed by Waffo. We do not store full card numbers on Star Digest servers. Failed renewals may result in suspension of paid features until payment succeeds.

4. Cancellation and refunds

• Cancel anytime. You may cancel a subscription so it does not renew for the next billing period. Access to paid features typically continues through the end of the period already paid for, unless we state otherwise at checkout.
• Digital nature. Because the Service delivers digital content and email immediately after purchase or preview, fees for a billing period that has already started are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where we choose to grant a goodwill refund.
• To cancel or request a billing review, email hello@stardigest.dev from the address on your account, or use any in-product cancel control we provide.
• Chargebacks: please contact us first so we can help resolve the issue.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Abuse, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service or related APIs beyond normal use.
• Resell or redistribute digests as a competing paid product without our written permission.
• Use the Service to violate others’ rights, scrape in breach of third-party terms, or send unlawful content.
• Circumvent subscription, authentication, or rate limits.

6. Intellectual property

Star Digest branding, site copy, email templates, and software remain ours or our licensors’. Open-source projects referenced in digests remain owned by their respective owners; we do not claim ownership of third-party repositories. You retain rights to your own account data as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties, including:

• GitHub — authentication and Stars / profile data via OAuth.
• Resend — transactional and digest email delivery.
• Waffo — payment and subscription billing.
• Vercel — hosting and serverless APIs.

Their outages or policy changes may affect availability. Their own terms also apply to your use of those platforms.

8. Disclaimers

Digests are informational suggestions about public open-source projects. We do not warrant that any recommendation is fit for a particular purpose, secure, or free of bugs. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Star Digest and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in that period, or (b) USD $50.

10. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms or the Service. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, fraud, non-payment, or legal risk.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of Star Digest (including, where relevant, the laws of St. Kitts and Nevis), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts with competent jurisdiction over the operator may hear disputes, subject to mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence.
